About Face
Portraits by Philadelphia-Area Students
Online Exhibition
Recently, the Galleries at Moore have presented two exhibitions that challenge and offer new interpretations of traditional portrait representation: Painted Faces: Mary Cassatt, Alice Neel, Karen Kilimnik and Mark Manders: Fragments from Self-Portrait as a building. To explore further the rich creative possibilities offered by portraiture, students in the Philadelphia metropolitan area were asked to consider works of art from these exhibitions and create their own portraits and self-portraits. This ongoing community-based educational program of the Galleries at Moore, continues through online exhibitions of student works and workshops held throughout the Delaware Valley.
