Catalog for the exhibition Fauna: Specious Origins
which was shown at the Galleries at Moore MarchApril 1991.
Joan Fontcuberta and Pere Formiguera claim to have discovered a small remnant of the 15-volume oeuvre of Dr. Peter Ameisenhaufen (18951955?). The catalog contains a preface (in English and German) by Foncuberta and Formiguera followed by 63 pages of notes, drawings, and photographs documenting Dr. Ameisenhaufen's specimens and taxonomic theories.
Included are
- Solenoglypha Polipodida. Aggressive and venomous, it moves rapidly thanks to the strong musculature of its 12 paws and the supplementary impulse which is obtains by undulating all of its body in a strange aerial reptation.
- Micostrium Vulgaris. This weapon-wielding amphibian exhibits possible malformations caused by gamma rays of an external origin.
- Threschelonia Atis. Known as Hengo-Go (he who disappears) in the native dialect of Geneva Island, this creature migrates in September, taking a trajectory so vertiginously steep that it is not seen again anywhere on earth until its return on May 3.
